The Interface Unit, Automatic Data Processing CA-67A/U equipment allows personal computers (PC) or battlefield functional area (BFA) processors to communicate with each other through the Mobile Subscriber Equipment (MSE) Circuit Switch, MSE Packet Switch or TRI-TAC Digital systems. The CA-67A/U can also be utilized and performs all of the functions of a Digital Non-Secure Voice Terminal (DNVT), or these functions can be bypassed and the CA-67/U equipment connected to the MSE Switch via an external DNVT or DSVT.

- Support Hayes Modem Commands
- Asynchronous mode data rates of 1200, 2400, 4800 and 9600 baud
- Synchronous mode data rates of 16000 and 32000 bits per second
- Loop interface rates of 16000 and 32000 bits per second
- Auto-dial and auto-answer
- Forward Error Correction (FEC) for operation in high noise environment
- Can be operated as level converter cable
- Can be operated as a fax modem
With Tactical Packet Network
- Full TCP/IP functionality
- Automatic IP address retrieval, tactical name server registration, refresh function and update of local host list
- Software application level provides:
- Ping
- File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
- Simple Mail or
- E-mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)
- Network Terminal Protocol (TELNET)
- Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
- Dial-up mode to auto transfer from circuit to packet switch operation
